🗣ACTION!💬

🚨Total Shutdown or Epic Deal? The SAG-AFTRA Showdown is on! 🎭Things are heating up at SAG-AFTRA HQ. As the clock is ticking towards the June 30th 📆 deadline (yikes!), we've got some insider updates straight from the Union's Prez Fran Drescher and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland. 🎩📝 They say they've been cooking up some “extremely productive” negotiations with the studios and streamers. Their focus? All the stuff you guys told them matters most to you. 🎯

Now, let's talk about the elephant in the room: what happens if a deal isn't reached and a strike is called? 🐘😱 Well, let's just say it wouldn't be pretty. If SAG-AFTRA orders a strike once the contract expires on June 30, it would be lights out for virtually all union physical productions currently on the go. Imagine, a total shutdown of our beloved industry...eeek! 🎬🚫

But hold on, don't get your popcorn buttered just yet. Even with the writers on strike, and the countdown adding pressure, our union leaders are all about positivity. They're rolling up their sleeves and working hard to avoid such a dramatic outcome. 💪🤞 They're hopeful they can get the studios, networks, and streamers to agree on a deal that gives you guys the respect and fair treatment you so rightly deserve.

The goal? Keep our industry rolling without a hitch, while standing up for workers' rights. And there's more, for all the writers on strike: Crabtree-Ireland has made it crystal clear that SAG-AFTRA members are standing right by your side. Solidarity, baby! ✊

The bottom line? There's hope on the horizon. While the threat of a total shutdown looms, it seems like our leaders are edging closer to an epic deal. So, sit tight, peeps. Keep your eyes peeled for updates!

In other news…

Directors Get a Sweet Deal 🎬🤝💰 Good news for our director buddies at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) - they've just sealed a new deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). 🎉 It's a pretty sweet deal, with a whopping 76% increase in streaming residuals and better parental leave! 🍼 DGA President Lesli Linka Glatter said it's all about building a better future for their members. She also made it clear that they're standing with their fellow creatives who are striking. Stronger together, right? 💪

Olivia Joins Paddington's Peruvian Adventure 🐻🌎 Wow, guess who's joining Paddington's next movie? Yep, it's our beloved Oscar-winner Olivia Colman, who'll be starring alongside Ben Whishaw (Paddington's voice, duh!). They're keeping the plot on the DL 🤫, but Olivia's character will be running a bear retirement home in Peru! 🐻 Fresh director Dougal Wilson will be behind the camera, and it's all set to film in London and Peru. This movie's a big deal – the last two made over $500 million! 🤩 Olivia’s also set to appear in a couple more high-profile gigs soon, including alongside Timothee Chalamet in the Willy Wonka origin story. Busy lady! 🔍

TCM's Drama: Top Dogs to the Rescue 🎥 🤝 Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is playing peacekeeper after a tumultuous week at Turner Classic Movies. The upset came after the departure of TCM boss Pola Changnon, but Zaslav has rallied big hitters like Spielberg, Scorsese, and Anderson to smooth things over. 🤝 The famous trio released a statement saying they're here to protect TCM's programming. They might even help curate the channel! Meanwhile, Michael Ouweleen, Cartoon Network's president, will now oversee TCM, and the rest of the management is being divvied up between him, Mike De Luca, Pam Abdy, and Kathleen Finch. It's been a wild ride, guys. 🎢

James Bond - The One That Got Away From Cavill 🕵️‍♂️🔫 So, turns out Henry Cavill almost became James Bond! Yep, director Martin Campbell revealed that Cavill was in the running for the role back in the 2000s. Despite being in his early 20s, Campbell thinks Cavill could still nail the role today. Cavill himself seems open to the idea, so who knows? 🕵️‍♂️ In any case, choosing the next 007 is serious business, with the decision made by a group of folks including the director, producers, and casting director. It's got to be unanimous. 🗳️

Goodbye, Frederic Forrest 🌋🎭💔 We've lost a great one, guys. Frederic Forrest, the brilliant actor from "Apocalypse Now" and "The Rose", has passed away at 86 after a long illness. 💔 His co-star Bette Midler and director Francis Ford Coppola have both paid tribute to him. Forrest started out in Texas, studied under Sanford Meisner, worked at NBC Studios, and then took off on the stage in Off-Broadway productions. From there, he went on to earn a Golden Globe nomination and had a storied film career. His talent and presence will be deeply missed. 🙏

Bupkis' Gets Green Light for Season 2 🎉🎉 If you loved "Bupkis" as much as we did, you're in for a treat - Season 2 is on the way! Pete Davidson’s hilarious semi-autobiographical series is back to bring us more laughs and crazy family dynamics. Season 1 saw some pretty cool guest stars and we can't wait to see who pops up this time around. Let's hear it for Pete, Lorne Michaels, Broadway Video, and Universal Television - you guys rock! 🎭

Adios, Magnum P.I: NBC Ditches Series🤔 Sad news for "Magnum P.I." fans - NBC has decided to pull the plug on the sixth season. The potential Writers Guild strike and SAG-AFTRA's contract expiry seems to have stirred things up. The show, originally a CBS baby, starred the charismatic Tom Selleck and Jay Hernandez. It's a bummer we won't be seeing more of their on-screen magic. 😔

Let's stop the small talk and dive right into the cream of the crop, the trailers that'll make your movie-night list a whole lot longer. Here we go!

🎞️ ROLL THE TRAILERS 🎉

That's a wrap! 🎬

Enjoy an amazing week, and catch you bright and early on Thursday!
