š Good morning! Looks like Apple is finally playing nice with Android. Yep, the tech giant is dropping some major hints about an Apple TV+ app for Android devices. In a recent job listing, Apple is on the hunt for an āAndroid Software Engineer ā Apple TV App,ā signaling that Android users might soon stream hits like āTed Lassoā without having to switch teams. š¤š

šŗš¤ A new AI app lets users easily create their own TV episodes. Yup, you heard that right. Fabel Studios has just unveiled their new app Showrunner, now in Alpha. With simple prompts, viewers can choose characters, storylines, and shot types to generate personalized content. Showrunner's already making wavesā it was tested with AI-created āSouth Parkā episodes that racked up a whopping 8M views on X. While currently limited in complexity, the appās potential is clear. CEO Edward Saatchi envisions Showrunner as the "Netflix of AI," igniting creativity and redefining TV production by enabling interactive and user-driven content creation.
šæš The gap between theatrical releases and streaming debuts is rapidly shrinking. In just a year, itās dropped from 90 days to a mere 68. With major streamers bundling their services and simplifying subscriptions, itās easier than ever for subscribers to opt for home viewing over theater visits. Take Universal, for example: Theyāre wasting no time in whisking flicks like āThe Fall Guyā from the silver screen to the small screen. These PVOD releases are popping up mere weeks after their theatrical debuts, leaving barely enough time to finish your bucket of popcorn. While this might be great for the studio's bottom line, it's got theater execs sweating bullets.
ššŗ The ad market is scrambling to keep up as major sports move from cable to streaming platforms. Control over ad slots is split between sports leagues, streaming services, and broadcasters. The results? Utter chaos. Tons of commercial spots are going unsold, and often donāt reach viewers. To make matters worse, trusty old measurement tools like Nielsen arenāt fully adapted to streaming, making it hard to track viewership. Advertisers are frustrated, and although companies like Amazon and Netflix are working on solutions, itās going to take some time for the industry to adapt.
