LAST WEEKEND’S
BOX OFFICE BREAKDOWN 🎟️

HITS 🙌

  • 🕺Asteroid City opened in just six theaters in New York and Los Angeles, grossing an impressive $790,000 - the best launch ever for a film in six theaters. Talk about star power! 🌠

  • 🕷️ Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is proving to be the biggest success of the summer so far, pulling in $27.8 million in its third weekend and hitting a total of $280.4 million so far. 🙌

  • 🎬 The Blackening grossed $6 million in its opening. Not too shabby for a film that only cost $5 million to make! 🥳

FLOPS🥱

  • 🦸‍♂️ The Flash was quick off the mark, but not quick enough. Taking top spot, the DC superhero movie pulled in a somewhat disappointing $55.1 million over the weekend - not quite the blockbuster debut Warner Bros. was hoping for. 🎇

  • 🍃 Pixar's Elemental came in second, but with a disappointing twist - it raked in just $29.5 million, making it Pixar's lowest opening weekend since "A Bug's Life" in 1998. 😬

  • 🤖 Transformers: Rise of the Beasts took a tumble in its second weekend, grossing just $20 million - a 67% drop. Seems this franchise isn't quite roaring back to life yet. 😐

  • 🧜‍♀️ Disney's The Little Mermaid brought in $11.6 million in its fourth weekend, bringing its total to just under $254 million. It's still swimming along, but it's not quite the splash Disney was hoping for. 🌊

Yikes, guys! 😬 Our summer box office is STRUGGLING... Titles like The Flash and Elemental have belly flopped, and even Transformers and Mermaid didn't quite splash as expected… Like a beach day with cloudy skies. Let's see if the season can still bring some blockbuster sunshine. 💔

Okay, let's explore the stories stirring up chatter in the industry loop - the essential info to keep you right in the heart of the action… 🚀📰

She was Bob Iger's right-hand woman, helping shake up things and bring him back as the CEO. Her departure is a big blow, especially with Disney facing some tough times and massive layoffs.
